In Oregon, Scotch Broom was introduced nearly 100 years ago on the coast to prevent erosion and stabilize soil. Now it is creeping over the coast range to the inland valleys and heading for the Cascades. Like anything else, it’s lovely in isolation and ugly when rampant. It does damage to sheep herding areas, taking over grazing lands. See
